Message from Dr. Rajani A Pai

Manasa trust was founded by Dr Ashok Pai, with the vision of dedicated service to the field of mental health as a pioneer in community psychiatry. He realised the need to explore every avenue to take mental health to all the needy. Such an enterprise resulted in the establishment of various units created around the Manasa Hospital, which he had established in Shivamogga. It is a matter of satisfaction that the units he had envisioned are functioning successfully. Academic programs in psychology, clinical psychology under the department of clinical psychology, all undergraduate programs in languages, social work, social sciences, and humanities at Ashok Pai Memorial College, Manasadhara for Psychosocial Rehabilitation Mukunda for Senior citizens, Manaspoorthi , a special school, every significant area of mental healthcare has been catered to through these units. Teaching learning, clinical training, research, and caregiving are the areas in which the units have excelled. With the enormous goodwill, we have received, we intend to continue to contribute to the society.

Manasa Trust has carved a special niche for itself for its unique contribution to the enhancement of mental health. Dr Ashok Pai, eminent psychiatrist was a visionary who understood the need and the challenges before mental health in contemporary society. He realised that only a large army of fully trained, skilled and dedicated experts in the several areas of mental health could address these challenges. Hence he planned ways and means of creating units which would offer specialised training in the salient areas of mental health. What seemed difficult to achieve then has been realised. The institutions and units started by Manasa Trust over the years have earned the goodwill and appreciation of everyone. We, at Manasa Trust are dedicated to the task of realising every aspect of the roadmap he had envisioned for Manasa Trust.

Kateel Ashok Pai Memorial Institute of Nursing was started in the memory of Late Dr. K A Ashok Pai, a psychiatrist, writer and a pioneer in the field of mental health. He had envisioned making Manasa a center for learning and research in the field of mental health. KAPMIN is one small step towards that goal. At KAPMIN, we work with the intention of providing the best of the facilities required for the student to reach his/her potential. To quote Albert Einstein “Education is not the learning of facts but training of the mind to think” KAPMIN was conceived with this vision. The staff at KAPMIN are accomplished, learned and think beyond classroom. The practical training provided by means of educational visits, interaction with guest faculty at the national level and participation in conferences are sure to help students broaden their perspective about life. We assure that we will try our best to keep improving and make sure to make learning enjoyable, hence fruitful. Welcome to the KAPMIN family.

Kapmi group of institutions have been established with focus on education and mental health by Manasa Trust. The major objective in establishing these units has been to provide quality education and training in various disciplines. All units share the ethos distinctive to Manasa Trust blending social commitment, access to all, contemporary relevance and emphasis on holistic development. The endeavour is to shape students as individuals with scientific temper, sensitive to societal needs and unfailing adherence to constitutional values and to responsible citizenship. Kateel Ashok Pai Memorial Group of Institution’s was established by Manasa Trust® to impart affordable education to the students of Malnad and its surroundings. Today students from far off places are also studying in our college.
